Fire/EMS Division

TRAINING  

Training is a vital component to fire department operations, and we pride ourselves on having a department that is comprised of highly trained, experienced employees looking to serve the community.

The department provides a full range of customer care to our residents and visitors. Our citizens enjoy exemplary fire and life safety services provided by our firefighters and paramedics 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Fire Training and EMS Training Divisions work closely together to provide intense, up-to-date fire and medical service training. Newly hired recruit firefighters at College Park Fire Rescue receive training and instruction by our training division prior to being assigned to a fire station.

Training for all firefighters is a constant, ongoing process in order to meet the requirements from OSHA, NFPA, Department of Health Services, and the needs of the community.

TRAINING DIVISION CHIEF

Chief Ron Taylor, a 30-year public safety veteran, began his career in 1994 as a Firefighter and Paramedic in East Point. He later joined the Fulton County Fire Department's Operations Section for 9 years before becoming the Director of Emergency Medical Services in College Park in 2006. Chief Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Albany State University and pursues a Bachelor's in Clinical Nursing. Actively involved in pre-hospital education, he serves on the Advisory Board at Atlanta Technical College and is affiliated with the American Heart Association, Georgia EMS Educators association, and Region III Office of EMS. As a member of the International Association of Fire Chief’s Emergency Medical Division, Chief Taylor is dedicated to enhancing the College Park Fire Rescue Department's efficiency and professionalism for the community.


MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Elijah "Trey" Robinson III, MD, born and raised in Hartsville, South Carolina, graduated from Wofford College in 2010 with a major in chemistry and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for community service. After completing medical school at Wake Forest, he excelled in emergency medicine residency at Akron General Cleveland Clinic hospital, reaching the rank of chief resident. Dr. Robinson further honed his expertise with an EMS fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 2017.

Currently double boarded in emergency medicine and EMS, he serves as an assistant professor in emergency medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Based at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, he works in the emergency department and holds positions as EMS medical director for College Park Fire and Rescue and associate EMS medical director for Grady EMS. Dr. Robinson's focus is on prehospital care and health equity. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he has actively engaged in public education and plays a vital role in emergency action planning for various mass gathering events, including races, marathons, sporting events, and concerts.
