Grand Opening of College Park’s Senior

Grand Opening of College Park's Senior Community Garden and Technology Lab
Posted on 03/27/2025

We’re thrilled to announce a groundbreaking event for College Park: the Grand Opening of the Senior Community Garden and Technology Lab, taking place on March 29, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brady Center (3571 Breningham Drive). This new addition to our community represents a significant step toward creating spaces that promote both physical wellness and digital empowerment for our seniors.

The event will be hosted by College Park Mayor Pro Tem Jamelle McKenzie, and we are honored to have Margarett Wilson, MD, MPH, co-founder of The Metro Atlanta Urban Farm and the mother of famed R&B singer Bobby V, as our special guest. Dr. Wilson’s dedication to urban farming and community development will be recognized as part of the event.

The Senior Community Garden: Growing Together

At the heart of the new space is the Senior Community Garden, designed to bring people together through gardening. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting, this garden provides an opportunity to connect with neighbors, engage in physical activity, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of nature. Gardening is a great way for seniors to stay active, learn new skills, and grow fresh produce that can be used in their daily meals.

The Technology Lab: Empowering Seniors for the Digital Age

In addition to the garden, the Senor Technology Lab will provide seniors with access to modern digital tools and resources. With technology playing such a critical role in communication, education, and everyday life, the lab will offer training and support to help seniors stay connected, informed, and empowered in today’s digital world. Whether it’s learning how to navigate the internet, using video calls to stay in touch with family, or exploring online educational programs, the Technology Lab will help bridge the gap for seniors in our community.

Join Us for the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the new garden and lab. This is a chance for College Park residents to see firsthand how these spaces will improve the quality of life for seniors, providing both recreational and educational opportunities.

The event is free and open to the public, so we encourage you to bring family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate this exciting new chapter for College Park. Come see the positive impact this initiative will have on our community, and enjoy the special guests, community spirit, and festivities!

Celebrating Our Community’s Future

The Senior Community Garden and Technology Lab are just the beginning. College Park is committed to investing in programs that foster wellness, learning, and inclusivity for all residents. As we continue to build for the future, we believe these new resources will play a key role in empowering our senior population and creating a stronger, more connected community.
