College Park - New Murals, Changes at the FAA, Political Signs & Pet Policies

College Park is a haven for art, expression and historic preservation.  Recently, the  Mayor and Council examined considerations for a policy explaining guidelines for murals in and around the city.  In order to maintain balance and structure, the City Planner discussed requirements for potential mural applications to include: references from previous mural placements, artist renderings of planned mural(s) and the location outlining the exact placement for the perceived mural(s).  The College Park Inspections Department is also involved in the review/application process.

The City of South Fulton will hold elections on March 21, to include Mayor and seven council members.  Because of its close proximity to College Park, the City of South Fulton candidates' campaign signs may pop up within College Park city limits.  College Park leadership has the authority to govern placement within its corporate limits, and seeks to clarify its position with more information during the April 3rd meeting of the College Park Mayor and Council.

There are concerns around and about metro Atlanta regarding policies surrounding dangerous dog breeds and their owners' responsibilities.  College Park will examine its policy during the April 17th workshop meeting.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a new Acting Administrator, with the confirmation that former Souther Regional Administrator Dennis Roberts has accepted a new assignment in Washington, DC.  Assistant Administrator Pearlis Johnson is now elevated to Acting Administrator, and has a sterling history of leadership and engagement with College Park FAA projects, including the shifting of 300 staffers from ancillary locations to downtown College Park in 2016.
